In many cultures, finding a coin is often considered as good luck, and some people keep them as a charm. But what if that coin was a charm even before you found it? In this experiment. I stuck messages to coins such as ‘I am your new lucky coin’‘Today is your lucky day’ or ‘ Make a wish, and throw me away’

– This act of happenstance is linked to the wishing well folklore, and, I hope, a way to keep moving the ‘good luck’ around. I have been doing this experiment since the fall of 2006.

I leave them as tip, in the steets, in phone booths, in a subway sit, in photomatos, across Mexico, Spain and New York City… Always with the message facing down, so the lucky one is happily surprised.
